Jakarta– PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Sangasanga Field successfully received the ESG Nusantara Plaudit award with the Platinum Papua title for its implementation of sustainability principles in managing the company's upstream oil and gas operations, encompassing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects. The award was presented by the Deputy Minister of Investment/Deputy Head of BKPM, Yuliot Tanjung, and the Chairman of La Tofi School of Social Responsibility, La Tofi, at the Bali Room, Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, Jakarta, on October 18.
The ESG Nusantara Plaudit recognizes companies based on assessments divided into three categories: Silver Sumatera, Gold Kalimantan, and Platinum Papua. These categories reflect the environment's and society's complexity and the companies' roles in maintaining sustainability and welfare.
The primary assessment criteria for the ESG Nusantara Plaudit award include the three main sustainability aspects: Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). The judging panel also considered the application of ESG principles based on the ESG roadmap developed by La Tofi School of Social Responsibility. PEP Sangasanga Field achieved a score of 95.
Senior Manager of PEP Sangasanga Field, Sigid Setiawan, emphasized that this award recognizes the company's commitment to implementing ESG principles. "In the environmental aspect, the company was assessed based on carbon footprint calculations, conservation tourism development, plastic waste management, water resource conservation, and the implementation of energy-saving technologies and renewable energy," Sigid explained.
For the social aspect, according to Sigid, the panel evaluated the company's commitment to poverty eradication, addressing hunger, improving health, and enhancing quality education. "The company's efforts to promote gender equality, increase access to clean water, and provide decent work were also assessed, including community development initiatives for women, persons with disabilities, youth, and farmers," he added.
In governance, Sigid elaborated on the company's commitment to respecting human rights, managing supply chains, and ensuring transparency and accountability. Developing sustainable products and services was also an essential consideration in the assessment.
"We collaborate with stakeholders in implementing innovative and sustainable CSR programs as part of the ESG principles. This award results from collaboration with NGOs, UMKM, BUMDes, and other stakeholders," Sigid stated.
