Sangatta – Pertamina EP (PEP) Sangatta Field obtained the Green Building EDGE Certification for a new office building in Sangkima Village, Sangatta Selatan District, East Kutai Regency. This certification is an innovation from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), issued by EDGE, which is currently operating in Indonesia and collaborating with GBCI (Green Building Council Indonesia).

PEP Sangatta Field Manager Abdul Rachman Para Buana explained that this achievement is a positive result after applying for Green Building certification since last July 2022, which prioritizes energy savings, water savings, and less embodied energy in materials in the audit process.

"This certification succeeded in placing Sangatta Field on EDGE Certified in Green Building Certification and the new Sangatta Field office building as the first and only building with a Green Building Certification in East Kutai Regency.

Rachman added that this achievement is a form of the company's commitment to applying the principles of ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) in each of the company's oil and gas operations and business activities to produce sustainable energy for Indonesia.

"With this achievement, all Sangatta Field workers expected to be able to maintain and increase the value of savings, including using sufficient water and electricity while carrying out activities in the new Sangatta Field office and all Sangatta Field work areas," he said.

With innovation and technology development and commitment to environmentally friendly and sustainable oil and gas operations, PEP Sangatta Field also plans to carry out another Green Building certification in the EDGE Advance and Zero Carbon classes.

"PEP Sangatta continues to run oil and gas operations that are safe, reliable, environmentally friendly, and comply with all applicable regulations by implementing various social and environmental innovations in the implementation of the Company's TJSL programs to be able to have a significant and sustainable impact," concluded Rachman.

Meanwhile, Auditor for the EDGE certificate Budijanto Chandra said that the Sangatta Field Headquarters had met the standards so that company could give it an EDGE certificate for a commitment to green building development.

"Based on an assessment by the auditor team, the new Sangatta Field office generates a savings value of 22% for energy savings, 63% for water savings, and 20% for less embodied energy in materials," said Budijanto Chandra.
