Jakarta - PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) managed to achieve oil and gas production in the second quarter of this year exceeding the target by SKK Migas in WP&B, namely 26,819 BOPD for oil and 551.2 MMSCFD for gas (1/7/2022).
General Manager of PHM, Krisna, said that this production achievement is one of PHM's successes in containing the high rate of natural production decline and maintaining production levels in mature oil and gas fields.
"Over the past few years, we have managed to contain the high rate of natural production decline and maintain production levels in mature oil and gas fields. This is about the various application of innovations and technologies to increase the recovery rate of existing oil and gas wells," said Krisna.
According to him, PHM applies best engineering practices in maintaining and improving the reliability of decades-old oil and gas operations and production facilities. In addition, Krisna explained that the provision of incentives from the Government of Indonesia in early 2021 has opened up opportunities for PHM to continue the Mahakam WK development work program more extensively, including the new well exploration program. To contain the rate of decline in production and support the achievement of the national oil and gas production target, PHM plans to drill 97 development (exploitation) wells and two exploration wells.
"We managed to drill 24 wells in the first quarter of this year. This drilling target is expected to be able to encourage additional annual average production in 2022 of 3951 BOPD for oil and 133 MMSCFD for gas," added Krisna.
The increase in PHM production cannot be separated from the contribution of the Jumelai, North Sisi, North Nubi (JSN) project that was on stream on May 20, 2022, ago. The gas production from this project is estimated at 45 MMSCFD and condensate at 710 BCPD (barrels of condensate per day). In this regard, PHM Senior Manager production, Benny Sidik, explained that the considerable production from the Jumelai Field is one of the supports for current and future national oil and gas needs as well as being the driving force of the Indonesian economy, especially in East Kalimantan Province.
According to Benny, this increase in production is also supported by PHM's success in planning the installation rejuvenation program which was carried out from May to June 2021.
"The rejuvenation program and inspection of the advanced installations allowed the start-up of new Sisi Nubi wells sustainably, thereby contributing significant gas to achieve a gas wellhead flow rate above 550 MMscfd. Maintenance programs were carried out optimally to successfully reduce the potential loss of production or LPO (Loss of Production Opportunity) of 1.4 BCF," said Benny.
