Balikpapan - PT Pertamina Hulu East Kalimantan (PHKT) has received an award from the Balikpapan City Government for its participation and contribution to supporting the Children's Care Program of the Balikpapan City Government.
The announcement and award presentation took place during a special plenary session of the Balikpapan City Council as part of the agenda for the 127th Anniversary of Balikpapan on Thursday (08/02/2024). The award was presented by the Mayor of Balikpapan, H. Rahmad Mas’ud, S.E., M.E., witnessed by the Chairman of the Balikpapan City Council, H. Abdullah S.Sos, accompanied by the three Vice Chairmen of the City Council and attended by 45 members of the Balikpapan City Council.
The award was accepted by Dharma Saputra, PHKT Head of Communication Relations & CID, on behalf of PHKT management. Dharma clarified that the Balikpapan City Government recognizes PHKT as a company that played a role in Balikpapan City's designation as a Child-Friendly City in 2023. The city received the Main Category award, the highest category following Main, Nindya, and Madya, from the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection of the Republic of Indonesia.
Dra. Alwiati, A. Apt, the Head of the Balikpapan City Office of Women Empowerment, Child Protection, and Family Planning (DP3AKB), conveyed her gratitude to PHKT for its proactive involvement as a stakeholder in safeguarding the welfare of women and children in Balikpapan City. Additionally, Alwiati noted PHKT's role in establishing public service facilities that are conducive to children and women.
In contrast, Markus Pramudito, Acting General Manager of Zone 10, responsible for overseeing PHKT, pointed out that this accolade underscores the acknowledgment by the local government of the beneficial impact of the company activities in assisting the regional administration in tackling social issues within the operational sphere.
"We prioritize resolving social issues within the operational regions by engaging all stakeholders to generate beneficial solutions," he explained.
According to Markus, the company believes that harmonious and mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders, especially the community and local government, will support the sustainability of oil and gas production in Indonesia.
